What $200 buys in October 2026 (checked October 15)

OpenAI sells Pro in three monthly tiers, Pro 100, Pro 200 and Pro 500, at $100, $200 and $500. On usage the Help Center says only that Pro 200 includes more than Pro 100 and Pro 500 the most. What Pro 200 includes today:

  • GPT-6 Pro and four thinking levels in chat. Plus gets Medium and High; Pro adds Extra High and Pro. GPT-6 Pro runs on GPT-6 Astra, and it is not unlimited. The key difference from Pro 100: on Pro 200, running out of the weekly GPT-6 Pro allowance drops you to GPT-5.6 Thinking (Medium), and GPT-5.6 Sol Pro has its own daily allowance; on Pro 100 both Pro models share one weekly pool.
  • No five-hour limit in Codex and ChatGPT Work. OpenAI’s pricing docs say Pro plans currently have none, though weekly limits may apply. Plus is metered per five hours, about 5–45 GPT-6 Astra local messages.
  • Dot, the always-on agent. Rolling out to eligible Pro users aged 18 and over, excluding the EEA, Switzerland and the UK at launch.
  • Composer predictions in Codex (beta). Since October 9, for personal Pro users aged 18+: in local and SSH threads of the Codex desktop app with GPT-6 Astra or GPT-6.1 Sol, Codex suggests your next message; generating predictions does not count toward limits during the beta.
  • Deep research and images. The pricing page’s Pro card lists “Maximum deep research”, “Unlimited and faster image creation” and longer Codex and Work sessions.
  • Credits for overflow. Included usage first, then credits, in Codex, ChatGPT Work and ChatGPT for Word, Excel and PowerPoint; valid 12 months and non-transferable. They do not add GPT-6 Pro in chat.
  • No Ultrafast. Ultrafast for GPT-6 Astra and GPT-6.1 Sol, billed at 8x the standard rate, is Pro 500 only; credits on Pro 200 do not unlock it.

How big is the allowance? OpenAI does not say. According to kingy.ai, OpenAI’s Thibault Sottiaux put a new Pro 200 at about 10x Plus in a September post on X (Pro 100 about 5x, the old Pro 200 about 20x), and Engadget reported the weekly GPT-6 Pro cap in chat falling from 200 to 100. These are press reports, not published quotas, and they do not translate into a task count for you; Settings → Usage is the authority.

Grandfathered subscribers: if you had an active Pro 200 from September 22 to 10 a.m. PT on September 29, you keep the old allowance through October 29 (13 days left, Beijing time), then move to the new one on October 30, at the same price. So judge Pro 200 on the new allowance; everything below uses it. Details: The Pro 200 October 30 change.

Five questions: which tier should you buy?

Answer in order; the first answer that points to a tier is your answer. Prices are our live top-up prices for 30 days.

QuestionAnswer → buy
1. Do you need GPT-6 Pro, Extra High or Pro thinking in chat?No → go to question 2; Plus (27.58 USDT) covers chat. Yes → Pro 100 at least; go to question 3.
2. How often a week do you hit Plus’s five-hour limit in Codex or Work?0–1 times → Plus. Sometimes, and you can wait → Plus + credits (up to 3 packs a month is still cheaper than Pro 100). Most working days → Pro 100 at least.
3. Does Pro 100’s shared weekly GPT-6 Pro / GPT-5.6 Sol Pro allowance last until the reset?Yes → Pro 100, 126.68 USDT. Runs out mid-week → Pro 200, 193.75 USDT.
4. How many Codex credit packs would Pro 100 need a month?Up to 2 → Pro 100 + credits. 3 or more → Pro 200.
5. Do you need Ultrafast, or would you hit Pro 200’s new allowance every week?Yes → Pro 500, 536.37 USDT. No → Pro 200 is your tier.

Never been on Pro and cannot answer 3–5? Pro is monthly: run one month on Pro 200, watch the weekly figure in Settings → Usage, and drop to Pro 100 if you used less than half. If you were grandfathered, your experience before October 29 does not count; re-answer after a week on the new allowance.

TierOpenAI pricevs Plus (reported)OpenAI per unitOur top-upOurs per unit
Plus (baseline)$201x$2027.58 USDT27.58 USDT
Pro 100$1005x$20126.68 USDT25.34 USDT
Pro 200 (new allowance)$20010x$20193.75 USDT19.38 USDT
Pro 500$50025x$20536.37 USDT21.46 USDT

How to read it: at OpenAI’s prices every tier costs about $20 per unit, so the differences come from our pricing. At our prices Pro 200 is the cheapest unit on the list, about 19.38 USDT, against 25.34 USDT on Pro 100 and 27.58 USDT for Plus itself. Moving from Pro 100 to Pro 200 costs 67.07 USDT more a month for a reported 5 extra units, about 13.42 USDT each, less than a whole Plus subscription (27.58 USDT). All of that assumes you actually use the allowance; a cheap unit you never use is still wasted money, and then Pro 100 or Plus with credits wins.

Pro 100 plus credits, break-even: at our prices, Pro 100 with up to 2 packs of Codex credits a month (500 credits each) still costs less than Pro 200; at 3 or more a month, take Pro 200. The 1,000 credits the price gap buys cover, on output alone at OpenAI’s rate card, about 4 million GPT-6 Sol tokens or 0.8 million GPT-6 Astra tokens (input is extra, and Fast mode bills credits at 2x). OpenAI does not publish what a plan’s allowance is worth in credits, so this compares money, not work. The pack-by-pack table is in Pro 100 or Pro 200.

Who should not buy Pro 200

  • You mostly chat. Medium and High thinking on Plus cover it and you rarely hit a limit: Plus is enough.
  • Codex runs over only now and then. Add Codex credits (500 per pack; the account must be on Plus or Pro) to Plus or Pro 100. At our prices, Plus with up to 6 packs a month still costs less than Pro 200. See Codex usage limit: credits or upgrade?
  • You need Ultrafast, or the new allowance would run out every week. Go to Pro 500; see Pro 200 vs Pro 500 and How to buy Pro 500. It is also monthly only.
  • Claude Code is your main tool. Claude Max 20x is the other $200-a-month plan (268.11 USDT here; its account requirements are stricter, so read them first). Compare them in ChatGPT Pro 200 vs Claude Max 20x.
  • You want to split one account or pay yearly. Neither works: OpenAI’s terms prohibit sharing credentials and reselling access, and Pro is monthly only.

The top-up in six steps:

  1. Check your account’s plan: Sign in at chatgpt.com and open Settings → My Plan. Free is a new subscription, Plus or Pro 100 an upgrade, Pro 200 a renewal; all of them can order the Pro 200 top-up straight away.
  2. Turn off any duplicate auto-renewal: If the account renews automatically through chatgpt.com, the App Store or Google Play, switch that off where you subscribed first, or you may be charged twice.
  3. Pick the product: On the pricing page choose ChatGPT Pro 200 as a top-up on your own account and check the price and stock.
  4. Submit your sign-in data: Paste the session or cookie JSON the order page asks for (for example, sign in to ChatGPT in the same browser, open chatgpt.com/api/auth/session and copy all of it). Paste it only into the order form, never into a chat.
  5. Pay in USDT after the check: Your sign-in data is checked first; if the check fails you pay nothing. Then send exactly the USDT amount shown on TRC20 or BEP20; the amount identifies your order.
  6. Wait and verify: Delivery usually takes 5–30 minutes. The sign-in data is cleared after delivery, you keep your password, and your chats and memory stay. Confirm Pro 200 under Settings → My Plan.

Is it legit? What we promise and what we cannot

  • Checked before you pay. A top-up checks your sign-in data first and you pay nothing if it fails; the data is used once and cleared after delivery.
  • Refund terms are public. If an OpenAI regional policy change makes the service unavailable, you get a refund for the unused days, processed within 1 business day and returned in USDT; bans caused by breaking OpenAI’s usage policy are not refunded. Contact the bottom-right live chat promptly if anything goes wrong.
  • Track record. ClaudeMax has operated since November 2024 and has served more than 20,000 users (our own figure).
  • We are not OpenAI. ClaudeMax is independent, not an authorized OpenAI reseller. OpenAI sets the allowances and may change them again, and its terms prohibit sharing credentials and reselling access, so keep one person per account and never lend it. More in Is ClaudeMax legit?
