The rule that makes this permanent (for now)
OpenAI's Help Center says it in one sentence: once a Pro $200 subscription ends, it cannot be purchased again until the pause is lifted. Since then one exception has been added — a one-time return: for 30 days after your access ends (after a cancellation, a failed renewal payment or a downgrade), and only if you had Pro $200 on 10 September 2026 or lost it in the 30 days before, you can sign in to the same account, open chatgpt.com/pricing and buy Pro $200 once more. Once. Combined with the pricing page — where the $200 tier has been removed for everyone else — that means the only button on openai.com that gives a lapsed subscriber their 20x back is that single return, and it expires. Whatever you had is worth protecting in a way it wasn't before 10 September.
The three ways it ends

A fourth, quieter one: downgrading to Pro $100 to save money during a slow month. The downgrade works; the upgrade back is blocked unless you use your one-time return. If your usage genuinely dropped, that might still be the right call — just make it knowing it's one-way.
If it already lapsed
First, the official exception: if you had Pro $200 on 10 September 2026, your access ended within the last 30 days and you have never used the return, sign in to the same account and open chatgpt.com/pricing — if you are eligible, the $200 option appears and you can buy it once. If that is not you, there is exactly one route: a ready-made account. It is an account where Pro 20x was active before the pause and keeps renewing under OpenAI's own rule. It arrives by email within 10–30 minutes; the login mailbox is assigned by us; you change the password on arrival and renew from the order page.
