What changed on 30 September
- Pro 200 is open again. New sign-ups and upgrades to the $200 tier work from the ChatGPT pricing page, still at $200 a month.
- Three Pro tiers. OpenAI now sells Pro 100, Pro 200 and Pro 500 ($100 / $200 / $500); only Pro 500 includes Ultrafast. See which to choose.
- Less allowance for new subscribers. OpenAI says new Pro 200 subscriptions include a lower allowance than before; Engadget reports about 10x Plus in Codex and Work, down from 20x.
- Existing subscribers are grandfathered until 29 October. If your Pro 200 was active at the cutoff or in the seven days before it, you keep the previous allowance through 2026-10-29 while it stays active.

If you already have Pro 200 (20x)
Do not let it lapse this month. A grandfathered subscription keeps the pre-pause allowance only while it stays active, until 2026-10-29. Renewal is unchanged, and a scheduled cancellation can be undone before the billing period ends. If you bought a ready-made 20x account from us, it is a Pro 200 account and renews as before.
Do you need Pro 200 at all?
Pro 100 and Pro 200 share the same features; Pro 200 simply has more allowance. If you hit Pro 100 limits fewer than three times a week, you are paying for allowance you will not use. If you run agents or Codex all day and keep getting interrupted, Pro 200 is the tier; if you also need speed, look at Pro 500.
What the pause was (10–30 September 2026)
From 2026-09-10 OpenAI stopped new sign-ups and upgrades to the $200 tier, including upgrades from Free, Go, Plus and Pro $100; press coverage attributed it to capacity after the GPT-6 Astra launch. Existing subscriptions kept renewing, a one-time return let people who had the tier on 10 September buy it back once, and the $200 tier disappeared from the pricing page. During the pause a ready-made account (one that already had the subscription and kept renewing) was the only way in for new buyers. The pause ended on 2026-09-30.
