What exactly is paused
The authoritative text is OpenAI's Help Center article About ChatGPT Pro tiers. As of this writing it says that since 10 September 2026 new sign-ups and upgrades to the ChatGPT Pro $200 plan are temporarily paused — including upgrades from Free, Go, Plus and Pro $100. Two clauses matter more than the headline:
- Existing Pro $200 subscriptions are not affected. They keep renewing on their normal cycle.
- Once a Pro $200 subscription ends, it cannot be purchased again until the pause is lifted — with one exception added to the article since: a one-time return, usable within 30 days of access ending, once, only by customers who had Pro $200 on 10 September 2026 (or lost it in the 30 days before). No restart date has been announced.
The pricing page confirms it from the other direction: Pro is listed only as “From $100 / month · 5x more usage”. There is no $200 or 20x anywhere on the page. Press coverage attributes the pause to capacity strain after the GPT-6 Astra launch; treat that as context, not as an official commitment about when it ends.
Why a ready-made account is possible at all
OpenAI blocked two actions: signing up for $200 and upgrading to it. It did not block renewing. An account that already had Pro 20x before 10 September continues to renew exactly as before. A ready-made account is such an account, handed over to you with the subscription active. Nothing about it depends on the pause ending — it depends on the renewal continuing, which is the one thing OpenAI explicitly preserved.
The trade-off is real and you should know it before paying: the login mailbox is assigned by us, not your own address. If you have an existing ChatGPT account with years of history, that history stays in your old account; the 20x account is a second account. For most buyers this is fine — the point is the allowance, not the inbox.

Do you actually need 20x?
Pro $100 (5x) and Pro $200 (20x) have the same feature set: GPT-6 Pro in chat, Deep Research, Agent Mode, Codex. The difference is the allowance — 20x is roughly four times 5x. The honest test: if you hit Pro 5x limits fewer than three times a week, you are paying for allowance you won't use. If you run agents or Deep Research daily and get interrupted constantly, 20x is the right tier and the ready-made route is how to get it.
How to verify the pause status yourself
- Open the Help Center article About ChatGPT Pro tiers. The pause notice is at the top.
- Open any help.openai.com article. A site-wide banner about paused Pro $200 sign-ups appears while the pause is active.
- Open openai.com/chatgpt/pricing and search the page for “$200” or “20x”. Zero matches means the tier is still withdrawn.
All three have to flip before the official channel is open again. Until then, a ready-made account is the route.
