  • Names: from about 27 September the signed-in ChatGPT plan page showed a Standard / More switch on the Pro card. OpenAI's public Codex code showed the $100 plan as Pro and the $200 plan as Pro (More) on 25 September, then switched the Codex terminal labels to Pro Standard and Pro Extra on 28 September. On 30 September the Help Center settled on Pro 100, Pro 200 and Pro 500, named after the monthly USD price.
  • Wording: “5x / 20x the usage of Plus” is gone. In late September the cards said “More usage than Plus”, and the More card listed the frontier Pro model, maximum access to the Codex and Work agents, unlimited core chat, unlimited and faster image creation, maximum memory and context, and early access to experimental features — “unlimited subject to abuse guardrails”. Today OpenAI only says that Pro 200 includes more usage than Pro 100 and that Pro 500 has the most.
  • Prices: the renames did not change them — $100 and $200; the new Pro 500 is $500.
  • Old names linger: on 29 September the signed-out Chinese-language pricing page still said “from” and “5x usage”, and screenshots, guides and third-party tools will show 5x / 20x or Standard / More for a while. They all map to Pro 100 and Pro 200.

What changed besides the names

  • Pro 200 reopened on 30 September. OpenAI paused new $200 sign-ups and upgrades (including from Free, Go, Plus and Pro $100) on 2026-09-10; the Standard / More labels appeared during that pause. On 2026-09-30 OpenAI reopened new Pro 200 subscriptions at $200 a month.
  • New Pro 200 subscriptions get less. OpenAI says new subscriptions include a lower usage allowance than before the pause, without giving a number. Engadget reports about 10x Plus in Codex and Work (it was about 20x) and a weekly GPT-6 Pro cap in chat of 100 messages instead of 200.
  • Existing subscribers keep the old allowance until 29 October. If your Pro 200 was active at OpenAI's eligibility cutoff or in the seven days before it, you keep the previous allowance through 2026-10-29 while the subscription stays active; then it moves to the new allowance at the same price. The one-time return that applied during the pause no longer matters: anyone can subscribe again.
  • A third tier on top. Pro 500 ($500) has the highest allowance and is the only Pro plan with Ultrafast, the high-speed mode of GPT-6 Astra. Pro 100 and Pro 200 share the same features and differ only in allowance.

After DevDay: where things stand

  • Pro Max launched as Pro 500. The tier that appeared in OpenAI's code as Pro Max, reported at $500 a month, launched at DevDay on 29 September under the name Pro 500.
  • The names settled. Since 30 September the Help Center uses Pro 100 / Pro 200 / Pro 500, and OpenAI no longer publishes 5x / 20x multiples. We will update this page if the names change again.
