Team size decides how you set up ChatGPT, not just the bill
ChatGPT Business is OpenAI's self-serve plan for organizations: one shared workspace, central billing, owner and admin roles, and Standard or Premium seats that both include ChatGPT, ChatGPT Work and Codex. It is not more usage per person; a Standard seat has the same five-hour estimates as a personal Plus. What changes with size is how many power users you have, who administers the workspace, and how much paperwork your finance team needs. This guide works through four team sizes with live monthly costs, then the purchase process from quote to offboarding, and the governance basics every company should set on day one. Seat recipes by team size, with live monthly cost
The examples give roughly one Premium seat per ten people, a sensible starting point when a few engineers or analysts run long Codex and Work sessions and everyone else writes, reads and searches. Totals are monthly, at today's prices (refreshed hourly; the pricing page is authoritative). The OpenAI column is the list price on monthly billing, for comparison only.

2–5 people: keep it simple
Everyone on Standard is the default. If one person codes all day, make that seat Premium: five people as 4 Standard + 1 Premium cost ≈ 295.09 USDT a month. The minimum is 2 seats, so a solo user should not buy Business at all; a personal plan fits better (see How to buy ChatGPT Pro 200 or Pro 200 vs Business). Whoever receives the owner account is usually the founder or the person who pays.
6–20 people: add a second admin and a one-page usage policy
At this size two things go wrong without rules: members invite friends into free seats (OpenAI notes members can invite others with the default seat type while seats are available, and this cannot be switched off), and nobody knows what client data may be pasted. Keep the paid seat count close to headcount, review pending invites weekly, and write down what may and may not go into ChatGPT. Twenty people as 17 Standard + 3 Premium are ≈ 1049.19 USDT a month.
21–50 people: roles, SSO and a monthly seat review
Split duties: the owner handles seats and billing questions, admins handle invitations, and OpenAI also has an analytics viewer role for people who only need usage reports. Business includes SAML SSO and MFA, worth turning on once people join and leave every month. Review Premium seats monthly and move them to whoever actually hits limits; owners can reassign paid seats at no cost. Fifty people as 45 Standard + 5 Premium are ≈ 2295.09 USDT a month.
51–200 people: plan the cap and talk to us first
From 100 seats a person on our side reviews the order before you place it, so message us with the seat mix and timeline. A hundred people as 90 Standard + 10 Premium are ≈ 4590.17 USDT a month. Watch the ceiling: since August 24, 2026 a Business subscription holds at most 200 paid seats, and OpenAI support cannot change that.
More than 200 people: that is ChatGPT Enterprise
Enterprise adds domain verification, SCIM provisioning, usage insights and contracted terms, with seat types and billing set by the agreement. OpenAI sells it through its sales team; we do not offer it. If you start on Business and outgrow it, OpenAI says an existing Business workspace can be upgraded to Enterprise through its sales team while keeping the workspace and its data; Business-to-Business merges are not supported.
How a company purchase works with us
- Count people and pick the mix: List who needs ChatGPT, mark the few who spend all day in ChatGPT Work or Codex for Premium seats, and give everyone else Standard. At least 2 seats in total.
- Ask first if you need paperwork or 100+ seats: Email support@claudemax.shop with the subject "Business purchase" or message us on Telegram: seat mix, company name, and whether you need an invoice or bank transfer. Paperwork is confirmed case by case, and orders of 100 seats or more are reviewed by a person before ordering.
- Order and pay in USDT: On the pricing page choose Standard and Premium seats in one order, enter a delivery email, click the Cloudflare verification email and pay the exact USDT amount on TRC20 or BEP20. Each order covers 30 days.
- Receive the owner account: Our staff email the owner account of a ready Business workspace the same day.
- Onboard the team: Sign in as owner, invite colleagues by their own email, assign Standard or Premium to each person and make a second trusted person admin.
- Offboard and renew: When someone leaves, remove them and reassign the freed seat to the next hire at no charge. Before the 30 days end, message Telegram with your order ID to renew; to change the paid seat count, ask us first.
What you get, precisely. The owner account of a ready Business workspace. Inside the seats you paid for, you invite, remove and assign people yourself. Do not change billing or add paid seats inside the workspace: that touches the subscription we manage, so contact us first and we adjust the order. Onboarding in the first hour. Invite colleagues by their own work email so every person has their own login; assign Premium only where planned; make a second trusted person admin so the workspace does not depend on one inbox; share the usage policy in the welcome message.
Offboarding. Remove the leaver on their last day. The seat stays paid and free for the next hire, and reassigning it costs nothing. Business has no self-service data export, so move work the team needs into shared projects before the person goes.
Governance basics to set on day one
- Training. OpenAI does not train on Business workspace data by default (Business Terms and Enterprise Privacy commitments).
- Privacy between colleagues. Each member has their own chat and Codex history; admins and owners cannot see all private member chats by default. Shared projects are shared on purpose.
- Models and spend. Admins can control which models members use, and usage beyond the included limits only draws on workspace credits if spend controls allow it.
- Usage policy. A short written rule set: which data is off limits (customer personal data, credentials, unreleased financials), one person per seat, and who to ask when unsure.

OpenAI's terms prohibit sharing credentials and reselling access, and OpenAI may restrict access it considers misuse. Access from outside OpenAI's supported countries may get an account blocked.
